When love and communication get difficult

Relationships & Conflict

Truth and grace belong together. Healthy relationships need humility, listening, boundaries, and repair.

BEGIN HERE Read slowly.

You do not have to solve everything today.

THE STRUGGLE

Conflict often becomes a contest over who is right instead of a search for what is true and loving. Scripture pushes us toward humility: listen first, speak truthfully, own our part, refuse contempt, and pursue peace where peace is possible.

READ THE WORD

If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.
Romans 12:18 · KJV
Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any.
Colossians 3:13 · KJV
He that answereth a matter before he heareth it, it is folly and shame unto him.
Proverbs 18:13 · KJV

REFLECT

  1. What part of this conflict is mine to own?
  2. Have I truly listened, or only waited for my turn to answer?

A SIMPLE PRAYER

Lord, give me courage to tell the truth without cruelty and humility to hear truth without defensiveness. Show me what peace requires from me. Amen.

ONE NEXT STEP

Before the next difficult conversation, write down what you want to understand—not only what you want to say.
