When hurt keeps following you

Forgiveness

Forgiveness is not pretending harm was acceptable. It is refusing to let another person’s sin own your heart.

BEGIN HERE Read slowly.

You do not have to solve everything today.

THE STRUGGLE

Biblical forgiveness is costly because grace is costly. Forgiving someone does not always mean immediate trust, restored access, or removal of wise boundaries. It means releasing personal vengeance to God and choosing not to build your identity around the wound.

READ THE WORD

Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.
Ephesians 4:31–32 · KJV
Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.
Romans 12:19 · KJV

REFLECT

  1. Am I confusing forgiveness with pretending nothing happened?
  2. What anger do I need to place into God’s hands rather than rehearse?

A SIMPLE PRAYER

Father, You know what was done and what it cost. Give me grace to release vengeance, wisdom for proper boundaries, and freedom from bitterness. Amen.

ONE NEXT STEP

Write the sentence: “Forgiveness does not require me to call wrong right.” Then identify one healthy boundary and one act of release.
