When you are unsure what you believe

Faith & Doubt

Questions do not frighten God. Bring them into the light and examine Jesus carefully.

BEGIN HERE Read slowly.

You do not have to solve everything today.

THE STRUGGLE

Some people come to Christianity with confidence; others arrive with objections, disappointment, or uncertainty. The Bible includes people who ask hard questions. Christian faith is not a demand to pretend certainty. It is an invitation to seek truth honestly and to consider the person and claims of Jesus.

READ THE WORD

Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.
Mark 9:24 · KJV
And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.
Jeremiah 29:13 · KJV
But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.
John 20:31 · KJV

REFLECT

  1. What is my strongest objection or unanswered question?
  2. Am I willing to examine Jesus Himself rather than only my experiences with Christians?

A SIMPLE PRAYER

God, if I misunderstand You, correct me. If I am resisting what is true, expose it. Give me courage to seek honestly and follow truth wherever it leads. Amen.

ONE NEXT STEP

Read the Gospel of John slowly. Keep a list with two headings: “What Jesus claims” and “Questions I still have.”
