When frustration starts controlling you

Anger

Anger can reveal what matters, but unmanaged anger can quickly become destructive.

BEGIN HERE Read slowly.

You do not have to solve everything today.

THE STRUGGLE

The Bible does not say every feeling of anger is sinful. It does warn us about what anger becomes when it rules our words, decisions, and relationships. God’s wisdom slows the reaction so truth, self-control, justice, and mercy can work together.

READ THE WORD

Let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.
James 1:19–20 · KJV
Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath.
Ephesians 4:26 · KJV
A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.
Proverbs 15:1 · KJV

REFLECT

  1. What is underneath my anger—fear, hurt, injustice, pride, exhaustion?
  2. What would “slow to speak” change in this situation?

A SIMPLE PRAYER

God, rule my reactions. Help me see what is true beneath my anger and respond in a way that honors You and protects people from careless harm. Amen.

ONE NEXT STEP

Do not send the message while angry. Wait, reread it later, and remove every sentence meant only to wound.
