When a habit starts owning you

Addiction, Compulsion & Freedom

Freedom begins with truth, grace, wise boundaries, and the courage to stop fighting alone.

BEGIN HERE Read slowly.

You do not have to solve everything today.

THE STRUGGLE

Compulsive behaviors often grow in secrecy. Scripture calls us toward honesty, self-control, community, and a different kind of freedom. Grace is not permission to remain trapped. It gives us a place to begin again while taking practical steps to change access, triggers, routines, and accountability.

READ THE WORD

God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
1 Corinthians 10:13 · KJV
If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
John 8:36 · KJV
Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed.
James 5:16 · KJV

REFLECT

  1. What usually happens immediately before I return to this behavior?
  2. What am I trying to numb, escape, or obtain?
  3. Who could know the truth and help me build a better plan?

A SIMPLE PRAYER

Father, bring what is hidden into the light. Give me courage to use the exits You provide, humility to seek help, and strength to build new patterns. Amen.

ONE NEXT STEP

Remove one easy point of access to the behavior and tell one trustworthy person what you are changing.
